    Question

on the radio station i was listening to this morning...
they were talking about different stories that they've read from different places.....

At the Pentagon, when the plane hit..
it was like a ball of intence flames went through the biggest share of the building...
insinerating people where they sat or stood...
some of the people were sitting around the TV watching what was happening in NY
    metal was melted....
in the middle of the worst part....
in the middle of the room...
sat a chair stool untouched by anything...
on that stool was the Holy Bible...

i can't even imagine having children and trying to explain all this to them.

how do you explain something you do not understand?

parents, tell me how you do it. please ...

i just saw the story of the guy who helped out the burned woman. he said SHE saved his life because all the people gave way when they evacuated as she was hideously burned from jet fuel.

turns out his sister's best friend was on the first plane AND his sister and her child was on the second plane.

    made me cry ... again

I cried alot, my daughter turned the tv on downstairs and saw th second plane hit...she came running upstairs in tears.. I sat down with her that evening and watched the news and I explained to here everything, I didnt lie. You cant. Kids are not stupid.... they have bigger hearts than us adults! I talked thru and answered ever question my daughter had..... honestly. THen she saw how someone shot up the muslem church..she cried again.... THAT i could not explain to her I cried with her. All she could say was "mom, they didnt do it" I wish those who did it could have heard her sobs....

so far my children havent asked me anything at all....i dunno whether that's a good thing, or a bad thing...my daughter is turning 4....she came home from school with a red, white n blue glittery rainbow she made at school and told me "here, mommy, this is for America"....so they're teaching her patriotism, but i havent been told whether or not they've been discussing the attack in class....i doubt they are....but i havent decided yet whether i want to bring it up, ask her questions about what she's seen on TV or what.....she has to know that something is up....i havent been letting them watch any of the coverage since Tuesday, so their lives have pretty much been unchanged and normal this past week other than the fact that they've heard some discussion, but it seems they're not choosing to ask questions....maybe later on when they're older, we'll take out the newspapers we're saving and tapes we've been recording of the coverage and explain the history we've been witness to.....meanwhile, i've been putting them to bed with extra long cuddles, kisses and whispers of reassurance that they're safe and we're right downstairs if they want us....seems all i've needed to do, fortunately

if they're disturbed by it....if they ask about it, i might just keep it simple and say "2 planes crashed into those tall buildings and made them fall....and people died".....putting it simply and on their level makes the most sense...any further questions from there would be handled the same way - simply and HONESTLY, because kids know when they're being lied to, which may lead to more insecurity than they might have hearing the truth
